Lt. General Dalbir Singh Suhag, who was involved in Indian Peace Keeping (IPKF) operations in the North and East of Sri Lanka, is to be appointed as the new Army Chief of India.
He will succeed General Bikram Singh, who will retire from service from July 31.
Indian media today said that the UPA government will appoint new Army and Navy Chiefs before relinquishing office in May.
Suhag, who joined military service in 1974, is widely experienced in counter insurgency operations.
