The Association of Composers and Publishers of Sri Lanka (ACPOSL) temporarily suspended all licensing operations pending a review of its royalty fee system following representations from entertainment industry stakeholders.

In a notice, the association said its Board of Directors had made the decision after considering feedback received from various stakeholders over the past few weeks.

The suspension would remain in effect until ACPOSL’s Annual General Meeting in November 2026. The association said the move would not prejudice its rights, legal remedies or legal standing.

ACPOSL also expressed regret over any inconvenience or distress caused to industry stakeholders or the public by developments in recent days.

The association said it had initiated a formal series of discussions with industry stakeholders to review and revise the proposed licensing framework and related fees.

The revised framework would be presented to members at the November Annual General Meeting and subsequently published in the Government Gazette, the notice said.
