President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said there would be no limits to efforts to punish those found responsible for corruption, regardless of their status.
Speaking at a public rally in Gampaha on 27 September, the President said international assistance would be needed for corruption investigations. He said the Government would continue its efforts over the next three years and, if given another term, beyond that.
Dissanayake said he had no intention of taking revenge against anyone. In his speech, he referred to events involving then presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka after the 2010 presidential election, as well as actions he said had been taken against Criminal Investigation Department officers after 2019.
