Dematagoda Police denied recording a statement from anyone over a “curse virses” circulating on social media.

Police were responding to a statement by lawyer Sudath Wickramaratne, who told the media that a client had been summoned to Dematagoda Police and a statement recorded over a song shared on social media as a curse poem.

The Officer-in-Charge of Dematagoda Police said the lawyer’s claim was entirely false.

He said checks of official police records and inquiries with officers who were on duty that day confirmed that no one had been summoned or had a statement recorded in connection with the matter.
