Police removed a bronze statue of former LTTE political wing leader Rasaiah Parthipan, known as Thileepan, from a memorial site in Nallur, Jaffna, early Sunday (27).
The statue was unveiled on 15 September to mark the 39th anniversary of Thileepan’s death following a 12-day hunger strike in 1987. Police removed it a day after the annual commemorations concluded.
