Several Sri Lankan nationals currently in Israel for business purposes have been left stranded due to the suspension of outbound flights, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel confirmed.

Ben Gurion International Airport and Israeli airspace remain closed to all international flights following the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, stated that the Embassy is making every effort to ensure the safety of Sri Lankans in the country and is providing necessary assistance for those wishing to leave. Given current travel restrictions, those seeking to exit Israel have been advised to consider crossing the Eilat border into Egypt.

The Ambassador also noted that some Sri Lankans living in older buildings without adequate shelters have raised safety concerns. They have been urged to consult with their families and designated social workers to create a personal emergency plan and identify temporary shelter alternatives during attacks.

Ambassador Bandara further advised all Sri Lankans in Israel to remain vigilant, follow official instructions, and contact the Embassy in case of emergencies.
