St. Paul’s Girls’ School, Milagiriya defeated Lyceum International School, Wattala 35–26 to win the Under-13 All-Island Basketball Championship A Division Tier 2 title.

Lyceum made a strong start and led 7–5 at the end of the first quarter. However, St. Paul’s recovered in the second quarter, scoring a three-pointer and capitalising on defensive errors to take a 15–10 lead at halftime.

Led by Bhavya Costa, who was named Best Offensive Player, Lyceum attempted to regain control in the third quarter. St. Paul’s maintained their lead and entered the final quarter ahead 23–18.

St. Paul’s then extended their advantage through fast breaks, quick inbounds and strong defence, while missed free throws hampered Lyceum’s comeback attempt.

St. Paul’s vice-captain Sineli Duhansa, who played a key role in attack and converted important free throws, was named the Most Valuable Player.

Captain Chenaya Ranasinghe received the Best Defensive Player award for her steals and defensive performance.

Cheneli Ranasinghe contributed several assists, while Sethuni Mallawarachchi and Januli Dassanayake strengthened the defence. Chahana Ariyaratne added valuable points, and Ehansa Danandi and Gayindee Piyadasa secured important rebounds.

Methma Basnayake also played a key defensive role during the fourth quarter when St. Paul’s were reduced to three players. Senulshi Sarasith, Jenuli Chandrasena and Anuki Hansadee contributed during the tournament.

The team was coached by Head Coach T.M. Amath, with assistance from T.F. Amath, Emelda de Silva and Eneshi de Silva. Chamodi served as the teacher in charge of basketball.
