The detention order issued against former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director retired Major General Suresh Sallay has been extended for another three months under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
Sallay was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on 25 February over his alleged links to the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks.
He has since been held under consecutive 90-day detention orders, with the latest extension permitting authorities to detain and question him for a further three months.
His mother and wife had previously written separately to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, urging the authorities not to extend his detention order and requesting that he either be released or placed in judicial remand custody.
