Thurston College is preparing to stage a major musical concert featuring its student orchestra on 1 November 2026 at the Bishop’s College Auditorium, marking the first time in approximately 38 years that the school’s music department students are mounting an orchestral production of this scale.
Titled “Sathsara Thathpara”, the evening event is scheduled to commence at 6.30 p.m. under the guidance of the school’s Principal and the organization of the college aesthetic department.
While the initiative builds upon the debut of “Sathsara Thathpara” held in 2023, organizers note that the upcoming concert represents a significant expansion in student participation and collaborative scale.
The production will feature around 50 student vocalists alongside approximately 200 students performing in dance and theatrical segments. The programme will also include guest performances by popular vocalists Yasas Medagedara and Nuwandika Senaratne, alongside student vocalists from Thurston College who have gained recognition through media reality competitions.
Adding a collaborative inter-school dimension to the programme, student performers from Visakha Vidyalaya (Colombo), Anula Vidyalaya (Nugegoda), and St. Paul’s Girls’ School (Milagiriya) are set to join the production for guest vocal and dance items.
Tickets and further details regarding the event can be obtained through the Thurston College aesthetic department.
