US President Donald Trump said Thursday he would delay planned strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure until April 6, citing progress in negotiations aimed at ending the war.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 PM, Eastern Time. Talks are ongoing and…they are going very well.”

The announcement marks the second postponement this week, after Trump earlier threatened to hit Iran’s power grid if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened. Iran has denied that meaningful talks are taking place. A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran had received a US peace proposal but described it as “one-sided and unfair.”
