Veteran vocalist Mariazelle Goonetilleke has passed away at the age of 68, according to family sources.
Sources indicate that she passed away early this morning (10) while receiving treatment at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital following an illness.
A renowned singer recognized for her Western-influenced, fast-rhythm music style, Mariazelle Goonetilleke contributed significantly to Sri Lankan music.
She was known for several popular songs, including “Kandy Lamissi,” and remained a respected figure in the local music industry throughout her career.
