NPP Executive Committee member Vraie Cally Balthazar has been announced as the Mayoral Candidate for the Colombo Municipal Council in the upcoming Local Government Election, JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said yesterday (8 March).

Addressing a public meeting, Silva stated that the NPP will field women candidates for 25% of the nomination lists in each local government body.

“The NPP will secure a massive victory in this election as well. Some claim our government is losing public confidence and that they want to topple it within six months of last year’s election. Those are mere dreams—our government will remain in power for a long time. We will gain the support of the grassroots and do our best to transform the country for a prosperous future,” he said.
