Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa has been summoned by the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau to give a statement over an allegation that he made remarks amounting to contempt of court.
He has been instructed to appear before the Bureau at 10 a.m. on Friday.
The summons followed a complaint to the Inspector General of Police alleging that Weerawansa made the remarks at a public meeting organised by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna in Anuradhapura.
The Bureau launched a special investigation based on the complaint and will record his statement as part of the inquiry.
