A woman was arrested in connection with the alleged assault of a child after a video of the incident circulated on social media on 31 October.
Officers attached to the Children and Women’s Bureau of the Enderamulla Police acted on the video and arrested the suspect that day.
The child was taken into protective police custody, and both the suspect and the child were subsequently handed over to the Cinnamon Gardens Police.
Police investigations revealed that the alleged assault had taken place on 28 October 2026.
The child has since been admitted to hospital. Cinnamon Gardens Police are conducting further investigations.
