A woman disguised as a lawyer brought the weapon used in the shooting that killed criminal Ganemulla Sanjeewa at the Magistrate’s Court by concealing it inside a hollowed-out copy of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Police Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga revealed.

Ganemulla Sanjeewa was shot dead inside the Hulftsdorp Court complex this morning while taking the witness stand. The assailant, also disguised as a lawyer, retrieved the pistol hidden inside the book, approached Sanjeewa, and opened fire before fleeing.

According to the Police Spokesperson, the female accomplice played a key role in smuggling the weapon into the courtroom.

Reports indicate that after the shooting, both the gunman and his accomplice escaped through the court’s main entrance.
