ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Sri Lanka successfully concluded the highly anticipated New Member Ceremony 2023 that took place recently at the Oak Room in Cinnamon Grand Colombo.
The New Member Ceremony aimed to recognize and honor the dedication and hard work of newly qualified ACCA members who demonstrated exceptional competence and proficiency in the field of accounting and finance. It proved to be an evening of recognition, celebration, and inspiration for all attendees.
Mr. Jehan Perinpanayagam, Chairman of the Member Network Panel, ACCA Sri Lanka, acknowledged the achievements of the new members and their significant contributions to the accounting profession. This was followed by Joseph Owolabi, ACCA Global President, who addressed the gathering, offering inspiring words of encouragement and emphasizing the importance of ethical accounting practices.
Suren Rajakarier, past Chairman of the Member Network Panel, delivered an insightful speech, addressing the new members and offering valuable advice for their future endeavors. The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the prestigious Member Advocacy Award for 2022, recognizing outstanding advocacy efforts within the ACCA community. The event continued with a solemn oath-taking ceremony by the new members, reaffirming their commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in their accounting careers.
The sense of accomplishment and pride filled the room as the ACCA Lapel Pins were presented to all new members, symbolizing their official membership in the esteemed ACCA community. The New Member Ceremony 2023 marked the felicitation of 416 new members from Sri Lanka and 16 new members from Maldives, from June 2022 to May 2023. Their accomplishments reflect a commitment to excellence and an unwavering dedication to the accounting profession.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks delivered by Chaaminda Kumarasiri, Vice Chairman, MNP, expressing gratitude to all attendees and reiterating ACCA's dedication to fostering excellence in the accounting profession.
