The epic fantasy movie "Kaala" directed by Sujeeva Gunaratne is scheduled to hit Sri Lankan cinema today (27 October) onwards. Unlike most epic films which were heavily focused on monarchy, 'Kaala' focuses on ordinary villagers.

The movie is based on folklore on how the King Dhathusena was able to find a place for Kala Wewa and the origin story of deity Kadawara, who is regarded as the principal protector of the Kala Wewa basin and the inhabitants of the nearby villages.

 The cast Mahendra Perera, Madani Malwaththa, W. Jayasiri, Achintha Kalana, Nita Fernando, Jagath Manuwarna, Vishwanath Kodikara, Chamari Nisansala, Janak Premalal, Dharmapriya Dias and Welegedara Ranasinghe. The movie indeed add a novel experience to Sri Lankan epic cinema.
