CID Establish Responsibility Of Senior DIG In Misrepresentation Of Facts In Thajudeen Murder

The CID has established that information on Thajudeen murder has been misrepresented by the police following instructions by a retired Senior DIG, CID sources said.

He is facing imminent arrest in connection with the investigation.

Although it has been described as an accident, the investigation has been handled by the Crimes Department of the Narahenpita Police. The Traffice Department has not been given an opportunity to carry out any investigation in this regard. The CID has received information that the inquiry was handled in that manner following instructions from the Senior DIG.

It has also been revealed that the same officer had summoned Thajudeen's father for a meeting after the incident and instructed him to refrain from pursuing the matter further.

The former Crimes OIC was arrested yesterday for allegedly supressing information on the incident. He was remanded till May 5.

Thajudeen's body was found in his car near Shalika Grounds in May 2012. The incident was described as a traffic accident. However, the CID restarted the investigation after the Presidential Election in 2015, which established that Thajudeen had been murdered.
