Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that there is only one faction in the United People's Freedom Alliance, namely, the anti-UNP faction.

Speaking at the official launch of the UPFA manifesto titled "A Guarantee For The Future", Rajapaksa stated that the UPFA was one team, unlike the UNP-led alliance.

The UNP repeatedly stresses the importance of a national government because it has already realized its impending defeat, Rajapaksa argued.

He also said that the last six months gave an excellent indication of what could happen under a UNP government. It would be disastrous to hand over the country to the UNP for 60 months, Rajapaksa said.
