Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa criticized the government’s inauguration of the Colombo-Kandy Expressway today, pointing out that the project was inaugurated in 2014. He also suggested that the inauguration will be used as an ‘election gimmick’ by the government.

 

Commenting on his official Twitter page, Rajapaksa said that “This project commenced last year. After suspension, it restarts weeks before elections.”

 

However, the project was launched by Rajapaksa in November 2014, days before the Presidential Election was announced.
