JVP Puttalam Leader Complains To Human Rights Commission On His Arrest

JVP Puttalam District team leader Samantha Koralearachchi filed a complaint today with the Human Rights Commission on his recent arrest at the Chilaw Hospital for allegedly violating election laws.

In his complaint, Koralearachchi states that he went inside the hospital for a discussion with health workers. He said that he is the Chairman of All Ceylon Health Workers' Union and that he had informed hospital authorities prior to his visit.

Furthermore, he said that wide and false publicity was given in media on his arrest. It was inaccurately described as a result of distributing leaflets in violation of election laws, Koralearachchi said. No leaflets were distributed in the hospital, he claimed.

Koralearachchi argues that the Chilaw Police and Chilaw Hospital Director have violated his human rights.
