Speaker Karu Jayasuriya allowed the debate on financial regulations to go ahead following a party leaders' meeting.

The parliamentary session got heated when several MPs opposed the regulations from being debated.

The Speaker adjourned the Parliament for 15 minutes and called for a party leaders' meeting.
