Attempted Bank Robbery Foiled At Panadura: Suspect Arrested

Police was able to foil an attempted bank robbery at a private bank in Panadura last evening. The suspect who attempted to rob the bank was arrested by a traffic police officer who was on duty nearby.

The suspect had entered the bank and handed a note to the cashier, which said "I have a gun, I will shoot you, give all the money. If you press alarm, I will shoot" in block capital letters.

The cashier handed over Rs 500,000 to the individual who tried to escape with it. However, a police officer on duty nearby chased the robber and managed to capture him.

It was revealed that the robber did not have a gun with him.

He is being questioned on the recent bank robbery in Colombo 7.
