Eleven people were arrested following a protest at Pallemalala Junction on Tissa-Kataragama Road in Hambantota today.

Protesters from Bandagiriya obstructed the junction for more than three hours, demanding a solution to the drinking water issue they are facing.

Police baton charged the protesters to disperse them. Six individuals, including three police personnel were reported injured.

Security has been beefed up in the area following the dispersion of the protest.
