Robbery Occurs At Mahiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya

A robbery occurred at the Mahiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya last night, the monks reported to police today.

Accordingly, the robber has entered the residence of the monks in the temple and made off with more than Rs 800,000 and other valuables including a video camera.

Interestingly, the incident took place while the Chief Incumbent of the Rajamaha Viharaya Urulavaththe Dhammarakkhitha Thera was on a visit to Thailand with President Maithripala Sirisena.

The Chief Incumbent left for Thailand with Sacred Relics housed in the Rajamaha Viharaya, which will be exhibited in Thailand from tomorrow to November 16.
