HRC Inquiry On Police Attack On HNDA Students Begins Today

November 03, 2015

The Human Rights Commission inquiry on the alleged police attack on the protesting HNDA students on October 29 begins today.

Two complaints have been filed at the HRC against the attack, which saw several students injured. Six police officers were also reported to be injured.

The "Jathika Balaya" (National Force) organization and the Inter University Students' Federation lodged complaints at the HRC against the attack.

The police said they only dispersed a protest following the accepted procedure and vehemently refuted allegations of an attack. Refuting photographic evidence and video footage, the police said they were distributed by the media to tarnish its image.
