'What Happened To Our People's Gold?', Sumanthiran Asks Rajapaksa

November 04, 2015
TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran on Wednesday said that Mahinda Rajapaksa should explain what his government did with the gold robbed from the Tamil people for five years.

Addressing the Parliament, Sumanthiran pointed out that the Rajapaksa government, in its last days in power, handed over some of the jewelry that the Tamil people lost.

However, ninety percent of the jewelry has not been returned, he alleged.

Sumanthiran claimed that according to the information received by him, the gold was neatly packed and tagged with the owner’s name. This information gets credence by the fact that the government was able to return the gold to the rightful owners in 2014, he argued.
