Sri Lankan Navy Releases 11 Indian Fishermen

The Sri Lankan Navy on Friday released 11 Tamil Nadu fishermen who were arrested on Thursday on charges trespassing into the territorial waters of the island nation.

U Arulanandam of the Alliance for Release of Innocent Fishermen said the country boat fishermen were believed to be hailing from Tuticorin region of Tamil Nadu.

"We have learnt that they were set free. The Sri Lankan navy is bringing them to the International Maritime Boundary Line," he said.
