PM's Committee Yet To Summon Senior Police Officers Over Attack On HNDA Students

The Three member committee, appointed by the Prime Minister to inquire into the Police attack on HNDA students, is yet to record statements from senior Police officers, Asian Mirror reliably learns. 

The committee has held extensive discussions with the students and other stakeholders of the issue. But, it is yet to take measures to record statements forms senior Police officers in circumstances leading to the Police attack.

The committee is headed by B.M.S. Batagoda, Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Energy. Senior lawyer Chandrasiri Seneviratne and Internal Affairs Ministry Additional Secretary Pradeepa Serasinghe serve as other members of the committee. 

The committee has identified that an administrative lapse on the part of the Public Administration Ministry is the key reason behind the HNDA issue. 

It has now been revealed that decisions made by the Higher Education Ministry has not conveyed to the HNDA due to an administrative lapse on the part of the Public Administration Ministry. 

Sources from the Prime Minister's Office said the committee was scheduled to hand over an interim report on the matter early next week.
