Anuradhapura Magistrate Reprimands Police

Anuradhapura Magistrate Umesh Kalansooriya reprimanded the conduct of the police for not sending a responsible officer to court for the Magisterial Inquiry into the Wasantha Soyza murder.

Only two police constables were present when the case was taken up this morning.

The Magistrate ordered the Anuradhapura Police HQI to report to the court personally and postponed the case till 12.45pm.

The 38 suspects in the case were taken back to the Anuradhapura prison since they could not be kept at the court premises due to lack of space.

Wasantha Soyza, a night club owner, was murdered at his club on the night of October 24 by a gang of more than 20 individuals.
