The trade union action launched by train engine drivers against an alleged attack on a driver at Ragama yesterday, was called off a short while ago.

However, more than 20 trains were interrupted due to the strike, causing immense difficulties to thousands of office workers.

The tense situation yesterday was caused when a driver refused to move the Rambukkana bound train from Colombo after it stopped at Ragama.

Commuters alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
