Police Violated Human Rights Of HNDA Students: HRC

December 04, 2015

The Human Rights Commission today directed that the Police had violated the human rights of HNDA students when they dispersed a protest near the UGC in Colombo 7.

The HRC also recommended that the police should pay compensation to the students.

It also recommended disciplinary action against those police personnel who were involved in the attack.

The police attack on HNDA students took place on October 29, when the police dispersed a protest near the UGC. Despite clear evidence, the police continued to deny any attack took place.
