'There Is No Case Against Me', Says Rajapaksa

December 18, 2015

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday said that there was no case against him and that he cannot see a reason for the repeated summons by the Special Presidential Commission.
He made this observation yesterday, leaving the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges (PRESIFAC), following the hearing of the ITN controversy.
Rajapaksa, former Minister of Mass Media Keheliya Rambukwella and former Chairman of the Independent Television Network (ITN) Anura Siriwardena were summoned before the commission to obtain statements regarding allegations on failing to make payments to ITN media network for broadcasting campaign adverts during the presidential election.
“There is no case against me. The Chief Auditor, who is the principle witness, has already stated that I was not associated with this deal”, commented Rajapaksa.
Meanwhile, Rajapaksa refused to comment on certain remarks made by State Minister Dilan Perera, adding that various people feel free even to accuse him because he brought freedom to the country.
