Extremists Will Not Overthrow Government: President

President Maithripala Sirisena said that he would not let extremists to overthrow the reconciliation process run by the government since it was approved by Sri Lankans.

Sirisena said this during his visit to Jaffna to take part in the State Christmas Festival yesterday. He visited a welfare camp for the displaced in Thelippanai, where about 1500 displaced people live.

“Extremists say that the government had let LTTE to rise again. I assure that we would not let another war happen”, said the President.

He also said that public would not allow extremists to conspire and form a government.

Furthermore, President requested Sri Lankans to unite for the freedom of Sri Lanka this Christmas.
