The Colombo Crimes Division sought legal advice from the Attorney General's Department today with regards to MP Hirunika Premachandra's role in a recent abduction of a youth in Dematagoda, Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
Multiple parties claimed that the UNP Parliamentarian should be arrested over her role in the alleged abduction. Premachandra even went on to justify the alleged abduction saying it was a move to resolve a family dispute.
Police sources said a decision would be made on the arrest of Premachandra, after considering the AG's advice.
Six of her supporters were arrested on December 22 for the abduction of the youth on December 21. They were later remanded till January 4.
A defender which belongs to Premachandra was used in the abduction. Meanwhile, the abducted youth told police that he was threatened by Premachandra after his abduction.
The CCD questioned Premachandra on two occasions regarding the incident.
