President Refutes Allegations On Foreign Influence In Constitution Making

President Maithripala Sirisena today refuted allegations that foreign powers will influence the drafting of a new constitution for the country.

Making a special statement in Parliament, he said that there was no need for foreign interference for a constitution drafted for local requirements.

The President added that constitutions have to be changed according to the changes in society. Furthermore, he insisted on the importance on political reform to ensure lasting reconciliation in the country.
