At least six people were reported dead in multiple explosions and shootings in Central Jakarta today.

Shootings were still taking place as some gunmen were holed up in a building near an opera house, reports said.

Jakarta police said that one explosion went off in front of the Sarinah mall shopping center.

Indonesian media reported that a police post outside the mall was blown up. Some pictures, apparently showing the police post appeared on social media.

The area is also home to luxury hotels and some embassies.
