Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake yesterday stated that the price of one kilogram of imported canned fish will not be changed.

He made this observation at a press conference following a Cabinet decision to increase the tax on canned fish

The Cabinet decided to impose a tax of 100 rupees on a kilogram of canned fish, which is being imported to the county.

Meanwhile, Karunanayake insisted that Sri Lanka has no need to get a loan from the International Monetary Fund under the prevailing economic conditions. The country had received US $ 1.2 billion investment, explained the Minister.
