Colombo District Court ordered Inspector General of Police to pay a compensation of Rs. 50,000 to Duminda Hapuarachchi, a commuter who was attacked by the police in a Fort Railway Workers strike.

Happuarachchi filed a complaint that he had to receive treatments from National Hospital for head injuries, caused by police assault in 22nd April, 2014.

The case was filed against the Inspector General of Police, and Attorney General.
