GMOA Demands Release Of Report On Alleged Kidney Racket

February 10, 2016

The Government Medical Officers Association called on the Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne to release the report on the alleged kidney racket in private hospitals in Colombo to the public.

In a letter to the minister, the GMOA states that various rumors are being created due to the unavailability of the report to the public.

Indian media reported last month that six Sri Lankan doctors were involved in a kidney racket masterminded by an Indian. However, the GMOA rejected these claims as an attempt to discredit Sri Lankan doctors.

A five member committee headed by Deputy Director General of Health Dr. Jayasundara Bandara handed over its report to Senaratne on February 5. However, the report has not been released to the public.
