Sri Lankan swimmer Matthew Abeysinghe broke the 25-year-old record of Julian Bolling to become Sri Lankan swimmer with the highest number of gold medals in a single South Asian Games edition.

Abeysinghe now has seven gold medals at the 2016 SA Games, held in India.

Bolling won six gold medals and one silver in 1991, when the games were held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Overall, Bolling took part in four editions of SA Games and have 15 gold medals.
