UNP National List MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is likely to be appointed a Minister net week, political sources said.

Fonseka was recently appointed to Parliament through the UNP national list, to fill the position vacated by the demise of former Minister of Lands M.K.A.D.S. Gunawardena. The appointment followed a working agreement signed between the UNP and the Democratic Party led by Fonseka.

Fonseka is likely to be appointed Minister of Megapolis for North Central, Uva and Central Provinces, political sources said.

Sarath Fonseka contested in the 2015 Parliamentary Election from Colombo District but was not elected to Parliament.
