Basil Rajapaksa Files FR Petition Seeking Prevention Of Arrest

Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa filed a Fundamental Rights petition, requesting an order against his arrest by the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division.

Through his petition, Rajapaksa informs that B reports have been filed on investigations by the FCID in Gampaha, Pugoda, Matara and Kaduwela Magistrate Courts and there was an attempt to arrest him under the Money Laundering Act.

However, the B reports have been filed misrepresenting the facts, Rajapaksa states.

The IGP, DIF of FCID, Anti-corruption Committee Director Ananda Wijepala, the Attorney General are among the respondents named in the case.
