Germany To Assist Sri Lanka In Combating Kidney Disease

The German Government will provide assistance to prevent kidney disease and also will provide assistance for the construction of water purification systems, Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel said.

She made this pledge after meeting with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena at the Federal Chancellery in Berlin yesterday.

Merkel also promised to send a representative team of German experts to conduct experiments on people suffering from kidney disease, the President's Media Unit said.

The German Chancellor commended Sri Lanka on the democratic changes in the country and pledged every possible assistance that she can provide for the future plans of Sri Lanka.

President Sirisena also met with the German President Joachim Gauck in Berlin yesterday.
