Two Customs Officers Arrested Over Soliciting Rs 125 Million Bribe Remanded Till March 10

The customs officers arrested over the recent incident of soliciting a bribe of Rs 125 million were remanded till March 10 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya.

Bribery Commission Director General Dilrukshi Wickremesinghe attended the court session and informed court that the investigations are still being conducted on them.

The DG informed court that the two officers were thought to be the masterminds of the incident.

Statements have been recorded from the two officials in November last year and they were arrested after a comprehensive investigation, she also said.

Three other officers were arrested in October last year over the soliciting of the bribe.
