Oscars 2016: Spotlight Wins Best Picture, DiCaprio Awarded First Oscar

Spotlight, the biographical crime drama film directed by Tom McCarthy and written by McCarthy and Josh Singer won the 2016 Academy Award for the Best Picture a short while ago.

It beat several other nominees including The Revanant. Other nominees were The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, Room.

Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio ended his long wait for an Oscar, winning the Best Actor Award for his role in The Revanant. This is his sixth nomination for the award.

Brie Larson won the Best Actress Award for her role in "Room".
