Indian Police To Petition Sri Lankan Government For Information On Kidney Racket

Indian police is preparing to send a letter rogatory to Sri Lankan government through a proper channel seeking information over all the kidney transplantations that were performed at four hospitals in Colombo on Indian nationals.

According to The Hindu, Indian police has said that they would follow the process in writing the letter rogatory since it needed to be passed through the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Telangana state and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on India.

Indian police had identified that four hospitals in Colombo had performed about 60 illegal transplantations on the basis of confession statement of accused, whom the police arrested.

Since a huge number of 60 kidney transplantations were performed in four hospitals, the police will also seek permission from Lankan government to interrogate six doctors, who performed the transplantations.
