Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga has been ruled out of the World T20 in India, Sri Lanka Cricket said.

He is due to return to the island today. Sri Lanka will send a replacement for Malinga, the SLC further said.

Malinga recently resigned as Sri Lanka T20 captain due to injury concerns but said that he wishes to play for the team. However, he later criticised the selectors for picking him for the Sri Lankan squad for T20 World Cup, claiming that he had been clear about his injuries.
