Government To Launch Investigations On CEB Explosions With Foreign Assistance

Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ajith P. Perera stated that an investigation will be conducted into the explosion occurred in Kotugoda CEB substation.

A group of foreign experts on the matter will arrive in the island to contribute for investigations and renovations, Perera said.

CEB sources said the first unit of Norochchole power plant which was temporarily removed from the national grid after the explosion occurred in Kotugoda substation yesterday, will be restored.

However, The Ceylon Electricity Board Employees’ Union say that administration of CEB should resign, accepting the responsibility of the explosions occurred in transformers recently.

Explosion in a transformer of Kotugoda CEB substation occurred yesterday amidst the security provided from armed forces.
