President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades confirmed that the EgyptAir Flight MS181 hijacking is "not related to terrorism".

The hijacker, an Egyptian-American named Ibrahim Samaha is a professor at the University of Alexandria.

He has demanded to speak with his ex-wife, who is a Greek-Cypriot. The woman is on her way to take part in negotiations.
